Counseling/Student Support Services
The counseling program at Malibu High School is committed to caring for each student as an individual. The counseling staff serves the academic, career, college, and personal needs of the student body. Katie DeHope is the counselor for the 6th and 7th grade. Liz Cowgill is the counselor for the 8th and 9th grade. Students in grade 10 and up are assigned a counselor based on their last name. A-K students are assigned to Luke Sferra. L-Z students are assigned to Katie Dahm. A student may request to see his/her counselor, and the counselor will also initiate contacts with the student throughout the school year. A student’s counselor may want to meet with the student individually or as part of a group; presentations on important concerns such as college admission and financial aid, pre-registration and course selection procedures, preparation for national tests, and interpretation of test scores.
